Puppetry:

Jean Kuecher, puppeteer and producer of the Marionette Playhouse, has delighted audiences with marionette, hand puppet and black light puppetry performances. Jean saw her first puppet show in elementary school and was inspired to create her own performances for friends and neighbors. Her abilities as marionette and puppet builder, scriptwriter, costume and scene designer, and master performer combine in a presentation to entertain, educate and stir the imagination. Jean performs for schools, libraries, birthday parties, churches and corporate events.

Workshops for educators introduce methods for using puppetry in the classroom. Demonstrations of simple-to-make puppets used in short stories and songs encourage participants to share puppetry with children. Jean has presented workshops for teacher in-services and librarian seminars.

Education and Experience:

Jean holds a Masters' degree in Education: Counseling and Guidance from University of Houston, TX. As a school counselor, she wrote and directed weekly marionette shows on self-awareness themes performed for and by students.

Jean also holds a Bachelors' degree in Elementary Education from Western Illinois University. For five years, she used puppetry to enrich her classroom curriculum.

Professional:

Jean is a member of The Puppeteers of America and attends their national and regional festivals. She is a member of the Greater Houston Puppetry Guild, Chicagoland Puppetry Guild and West Michigan Puppetry Guild.
